Posting this question again as my previous post was locked as the moderator thought it was a duplicate, but I think I just used the same title as a previous member!

Anyway, I'm wiring up 2 lanterns either side of the garage door.

Am I right in thinking that I need an isolation switch so that I can carry out any necessary maintenance work?

Rather than use a switch, I was thinking of adding a new 6A MCB into the CU just for the outside lights. I've got a spare MCB and if I did have to instal a switch this would be right below the CU anyway.

Do you think that going directly to MCB would be OK as all part of new extension and will have to eventually be passed by BCO?

Thanks.

IMO theres not a great deal of benefit in installing a seperate circuit for two lanterns. If they were 500 watt floods, i'd say yes, but in this case, no.

Install a double pole switch supplying both lights.
