Hiya,

Can anyone confirm if MDPE gas pipe must be buried or used outside?
I am looking at a run of about 60mtrs of 50mm pipe through a roof void, i have had 2 quotes, 1 for tracpipe, 1 for melleable iron.

Any thoughts please?

my thoughts are why not copper? and the guy quoting tracpipe only intends to use a clip at each end

MDPE must be buried and to the required depth and cannot be used internally.
Use the tracpipe or steel.

Depends on the building and it's use.

Industrial would normally be steel on hangers.

The RGI must also have a commercial ACS for industrial pipework, purging and testing.

MDPE gas pipe must not be installed in or under ANY type of building.

Would need welding, so pipefitter/welder required.

personally i'd fit tracpipe on tray and hanger. No joints except transition will probably work out cheaper.

No it wouldn't, 2" can be screwed.;)

21/2" and above should be flanged or welded.

Sure my copy of up2 is 50mm and above.

I'll have check now.

my stupid mistake.

less than/equal to 50 is screw/weld

above 50 is weld.

would still use tracpipe and tray though.
