I'd like to check the double glazing company's measurements for my new windows and doors before I order. I've seen something before on how to measure up for this but can't remember what the accepted procedure is, can anyone help? If I remember correctly you take 3 measurements for each dimension and then take the smallest, subtract 10mm or so to give the size of window/door. Is that correct? Do I have to subtract any more for larger frames such as patio doors?

Thanks

Why???

I'm sure they know what they are doing and have surveyed correctly. You dont want to annoy them by telling them their sizes are wrong. At the end of the day if you are not happy with the work, they should rectify it before receiving full payment.

No because the window opening could be out of square. Use a spirit level or a plumb bob so you can fit a square into the opening and normally allow 5mm all round from the tightest point. Agreed with nstreet though.

Hmmm... I've also posted on the window man website about this and they also think I shouldn't bother checking so I'm going to take the advice and save myself a job!! S*d it I've got enough to do!

Cheers
