megaflow question

I have a Megaflow indirect cylinder - which works fine so far. The only issue I have is the immersion heater doesn't work. I use the central heating boiler to heat water which is a bit expensive probably.

I have recently taken a look at the immersion heater and tested the coil for impedance - it shows completely open circuit so i presume its dead as a dodo..

I have seen lots of info on various sites about repeat issues with these breaking ..

They are quite expensive I believe .

Is there a cheaper alternative than buying a heatrea sade part?

It's cheaper to use the boiler to heat the water, as far as I know you'll have to get the genuine heatrae immersion.

I should have added that you need to be qualified to work on these things by the way.
