I'd heard they tend to fail pretty quickly on some Megger multi-function testers, but 20 minutes takes the mick.

I was hoping it would go after about 10 months, get a warranty repair and a free calibration!

Anybody heard or experienced similar fate to my new beloved 1553?

dont know about that model but im on my third 1552 within a year. the first one kept popping fuses every 5 seconds. second one was trying to tell me that i had 1000v going through all the circuits in my customers house, this one is holding up ok at the moment tho

it does buzz on the continuity test when the battery is going low.

i had a problem with my 1502 giving me silly continuity readings.

got the megger are reps number and he lent me a machine free of charge, even hand delivered it and took mine away and sorted it out.

have found customer service at megger is pretty good.

From owning previous Megger equipment I know their service to be second to none, but this issue with continuity buzzers to be a stupid failing across the MFT15xx series.

Can they just not fit a decent one? 20 minutes of general testing, and it goes. Should that not have shown up in the tests before it left the factory?
