Melcom replacing Omnichron

My A1 Omnichron 8000 packed up after a good few years service and I have got a Melcom ST 5000 to replace it. Connecting up has been straightforward, the labelling of terminals is similar on both. Now everything works except the bell/siren does not sound under alarm conditions. (The internal sounder goes off.) i suppose it is possible that the bell/siren unit has failed too, but that seems a bit of an unlikely coincidence. Any suggestions anyone?

Put the bell trip wire on to 0 volts in the panel, does it sound outside ? If not put it on 12+ Got a funny feeling some of the omnicrom panels had positive bell trip...
