Hi,

Does anyone know a good way to secure a metal back box to plaster board?

I have a 8 gang box I want to use.

8 gang?! never seen one that big

The only way is to insert a wooden noggin in the wall, and attach it to the vertical timbers.

Or if the wall is dot and dab, it may just sit onto the blockwork

Is the plasterboard already in place?

If so, there are certain near-bodges to fit the back box.

Yep the wall is already up and there's no brickwork behind it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

As you are using an 8 gang back box, the hole you cut for this will very likely give you enough access into the void to allow you to put some support noggins/timbers across the stud work that can then be used to securely fit the backbox to.
If you cannot access across the stud then you will either need to break into the board to allow you to do this and repair, or you will need to form some timbers around/near to the hole that will then allow you to but fixing noggins across the hole.
