Hi

My bathroom is being refurbished. The existing plasterboard was removed as it was damaged during tile removal.

Beneath the plasterboard is metal stud work.

I need a 40mm deep piece of metal c-stud. I can only find 50mm and 70mm.

Does anybody know if 40mm deep c-stud is a non-standard size? Is it available?

I'll likely substitute by sticking a 40mm deep piece of timber into the metal U-stud on the floor and ceiling.

yer that was my immediate thought but it just seems like another thing in this house that is non-standard.

That's why I wanted to know if the 40mm stuff is standard.

Hi @curium - did you manage to sort this? I've just removed a plasterboard panel to find the metal studs are 40mm X 40mm I studs.
The house was "only" built in 1996 but can't find any source of any metal C studs or I studs at 40mm depth.

Probably a non standard and not by British Gypsum the developer will have hunted out to save a few quid/mm but they're buying them by the thousand so makes sense.
