Hello all

I’m trying to source a metal clad back box with square corners to mount a fire alarm call point on in a steel conduit installation.

As you can see it looks a bit rubbish on a box with round corners, especially an MK box with the flanged lip.

Something like this box with it’s squared corners would be ideal but I’ve drawn a blank of where to source one from.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also this is my 20,000th post on this forum!

MK do metal surface boxes intended for use with their logic plus range of accessories. They aren't completely square but they are squarer than most metalclad surface boxes.

Part number is K2211ALM for a plain box or K2213ALM for a box with 20mm knockouts.

Normally it would be a galvanised conduit drop to the plastic call point back box ….but this may help

Why can't you just use a plastic red pattress?

With an earth nut to maintain earth continuity if required.

It’s just personal preference really. I guess I’m old fashioned. I think the one plugwash linked to is looking favourite thanks.

Square corners, stainless steel, priced accordingly.

Almost as expensive as the stainless one....

I have used them though, and they're nearly indestructible. The corners are very slightly radiused, but nowhere near as much as a standard meatalclad box.

Not cheap, but your wholesaler may stock these, they are a metal sleeve that slides other a surface mounted flush box
