I have the Firebelly FB1 multi-fuel woodburner/stove

However when having it cleaned, I managed to break the brittle top baffle plate made of Vermiculite,

So i was just asking to see if I could use a metal equivalent baffle plate as its
just a simple rectangular piece instead of vermiculite?

Would this be safe and do the same job?

Vermiculite linings are actually to refract heat, and keep it within the firebox.....however, on most stoves the top baffle is in fact steel so if it was mine, I'd give it a go - but I doubt if the manufacturer would agree!
One point though - if this is a brushed stainless stove as against a black cast one, expect some discolouration on the top as the temperature must increase a bit.
