Hi,

We need to replace our meter box cabinet - the whole case has fallen off. We bought replacement meter box cabinets and have been looking for an electrician to replace them. It seems impossible. A lot of them say that because the service head is in the meter box we need to contact the electricity company. However our electricity company, OVO, say they do not replace meter boxes. One electrician thought about cutting a whole in the meter box to slide over the service head so it does not need to be disconnected. But he said it would cost £400. Does anyone know how these things are usually dealt?

As stated you need to contact the DNO, which looking at you location is UK Power Networks.

They should have a standard price for removing & replacing the equipment in the box to allow you or your contractor(s) to replace the actual box
