Meynell V6 thermostatic Mixer

Hope someone can help me.
I have a Meynell V6 Mixer fitted in my shower. Works fine , no leaks etc but it takes a lot of effort to turn off the water after use...I mean nearly using both hands!.
About half the turn (clockwise to close the valve) is effortless but the last bit is tough as the valve becomes very "tight"

Could someone help me with the diagnosis?

The flat I have moved into is roughly 10 years old and I don't think this valve has been replaced 7 serviced in the mean time.
