Microsoft OneDrive Problem

Hi All,
My PC has been OK recently, saving my pics on the OneDrive and accessible on both PC and smartphone.
Today I have tried opening the pics on my PC, but explorer is prompting "Make sure OneDrive Personal is open and try again".
I've clicked on the OneDrive Personal icon showing on file explorer but can't see anything with which to open it. My picture files are all showing as icons, but will not open!!
Any thoughts please?

Update - All my pics are back again, but I don't know why!!
I've been playing with settings and am just bamboozled by it all
