Microsoft Word update

It seems as though we may need to update the version of microsoft word we haveon our pc as some documents will not open!

Is there a source online for this or am I looking at shelling out for a new pack of software?

Try OpenOffice. It should open most things, and it doesn't cost a penny..

Word 2004 used the ending .doc and Word 2007 used .docx which old word will not open. There is a MS converter I think but most people use open office which will open .docx and can save it as .doc or even PDF however if the document has used the maths bit of word this bit often fails and also macros may fail.
I use Open office Writer for any .docx document but at college I am careful to save as Word 2004 and if really stuck my wife does have 2007 on her PC which I can use to convert.
