contribute to climate change as much as cars  so scientists at the university of manchester claim ???????

they say the 19 microwave ovens produce the same amount of carbon dioxide as 1 car ??

and the 131 million microwaves in the EU produce annual emissions similar to 6.8 million cars

Across the EU microwaves consume an estimated 9.4 terawatts of leccy per hour every year

the equivalent of energy generated by 3 large gas power plants

the end of ding cooking ?

Pointless UoM quoting what mico waves use, presumably they are being used for cooking and heating so some other appliance would be used as an alternative using an equivalent or even more energy?

I don't have 19 microwaves, I only have one. I have one car.

Therefore our microwave does not contribute to climate change as much as our car.

Maybe if people didn't feel the need to replace them before they stopped working, the impact would be reduced, as the impact of manufacture accounted for 20% of the impact.
Study you allude to is here:

University of Manchester has a good reputation when it comes to LCA. I've met one of their professors who designed their CCalc system for working out a company's carbon footprint.

I have had my Daewoo moicrowave since 1999. I am sure that during this time, it has hada much smaller carbon footprint than any of the many ovens, kettles, washing machines, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners and cars I have owned. So, who cares?

6 mins in the microwave vs 20 to 30 mins in the electric oven, I'd hazard a guess the microwave is more enery efficient for heating food..

comparing microwaves to cars is nuts as they have different uses and cannot be substituted by each other
as said compared to other cooking methods more efficient
also average time in use off a micro will be far less than the average car
