Hi there, our dishwasher starts a program, only gets a couple of minutes in and then comes up with "inlet"with a tap in the display. I've checked the inlet and the filter in it, it's fine and it is filling up with water anyway. I've had the side off and thought I could see a blockage in the plastic tank, so removed it and cleared it with compressed air. The flow wheel is turning properly, I'm stumped now. Any ideas please?

A bit icky but have you tried to blow through the waste pipe where it meets the drainage point? I had to do something similar with my mum's meile washing machine. The pipe was full of gunk. I kept blowing until I could hear gurgling noises in the machine. The pipe was full of gunk...

Hi, thanks, no I've not inspected the waste pipe, as the error says "inlet", so I was concentrating on that side of the machine

Going to check the pipework underneath next for blockages and then the resistance on the solenoid valves.....

My Miele washing machine had an "inlet" error but it was the waste hose that was blocked?? Certainly worth a check.

Thanks and I will do, but I've just checked the solenoid valves for resistance and one has no reading at all, so I'm thinking it's that....

Does the programme complete or does it stop and drain early? Also, in terms of filter did you actually remove it from the WPS valve and completely inspect/clean out? I understand that behind the basket filter is a small restrictor valve which may also need some maintenance.

Last thing to check is whether the reed switch flow meter is actually picking up the rotations of the flow wheel.

Water is getting into the inlet tank, so i the problem is not at the tap end. Yes the red switch is picking up the flow wheel - when removed it comes up with something like "turn the tap on" (can't remember exactly) then it goes away when put back in. One of the valves has no resistance, so I've ordered another one. Pretty sure that's it, but we'll soon see...

Well I was wrong!! Had to wait ages for the new valve which I fitted yesterday - when we then ran the dishwasher it looked like it was fixed, but an hour or so in it came up with the same fault and now, just like before, it doesn't get more than a minute or 2 into the program....

So this is really frustrating - I'm now getting a resistance reading off the old valve, so God knows what I was doing wrong before. Is there a way to put this machine into "service mode", to get it to display a fault code? I've tried Googling and various button combinations but had no luck. I'd be very grateful for any help here, many thanks.

Sorry to hear about that, my opinion is there's a problem with the flow meter either that it is faulty or that it is correctly registering too little flow. The latter seems unlikely given that you stated earlier on the inlet has been inspected. If the flow meter is faulty it could either be the PCB (which presumably can be checked with a magnet and multi meter) or its the waterwheel inside the inlet box :(.

Service mode:

1. Open door
2. Switch off machine
3. Press and hold start/stop
4. Switch on machine
5. Release start/stop
6. Immediately press and release start/stop 3 times and on 3rd time hold it pressed in until start/stop flashes slowly.

Use delay start and intensive lower basket buttons to navigate options left and right, position 1 is fault memory showing saved codes if any codes. Use turbo button to select any sub options. (I've never owned this machine so assume those buttons all make sense to you!)

Fault code granularity might not help too much but let us know what you find.

Wow! Many thanks to you, where did you find that info? It has the following fault codes: F11, F14, F52, F70. Now to figure out what they mean...I should mention this machine was second hand, we've owned it for a couple of years and so I don't know whether it's already been repaired and whether any of those codes relate to a previous problem.

Ok, so having find out what all the codes mean, I've then cleared the codes and run a quick wash to see what happens. Again it fails with "inlet" in the display and only counts down a minute of the program. Now the fault code is F14 which is the circulation pump/water intake-pump pressure level or heating level switch.
I'll have a Google about those now.....
