Hi,

Our son has given us his Miele WT2780 washer/dryer - he's going to work in Canada for 6 months. We've come across one problem; although timed drying works, sensor drying stops very quickly, within a few minutes, with no error codes. When we taken the the drying out, it's as damp as it started. He only used timed drying. Any ideas?

Many thanks

The dampness of the laundry is sensed by electricity flowing from a carbon brush at the rear, through the drum with laundry touching the metal plate on the door. The signal passes through the door latch.
You may want to try wiping the metal plate and especially the door lock/latch with meths to see if this helps.

Thanks for the info. Tried it, but no change. Where is the carbon brush? On an earlier Miele, a WT946, the front was hinged at the right to allow access. Looking at the WT2780, it looks like the sides come off. Is this correct? Are there any hidden screws?

Many thanks, Robert

With the lid off looking down the back, can you see it by the pulley wheel?

When you say it stops suddenly, does it show the program has ended? Is the laundry hot?

I'll look by the pulley wheel tonight. When I start a drying programme, the display indicates that it will take 58 minutes. However, after 2 to 3 minutes, the time drops to 12 minutes of cooling and the laundry is in the same condition as it was before I started - cold and damp. I tried many times with varying loads - but timed drying always works.

Finally found the problem, the machine has had a replacement door lock in the past - someone fitted a washing machine lock rather than a washer dryer lock - there's no connection for the drying sensor - it was taped up and unused. Thanks for the help.
