Hi everyone.
I am looking for some help in recommending which Mikita SDS will best suit my needs. (I would prefer mikita as my brother has a few other tools that I will be able to steal)

We have just bought our first house and it needs some extensive work. Luckily most of my family is in various trades so they can help but I would like to do the majority of what I can, myself.

The first job is taking off all the plaster off so we can start again from the brick. So I have spent a couple of days with the chisel and I think it's time to just get an sds still with a chisel attachment.

I just don't know which one would be the best option? I have read a few posts regarding weight, power etc but I think it just made it harder to choose one. So any recomendations would be a huge help.

What's your budget? Cordless or corded?
Will it be used over a long period or rarely?

Budget is around £200ish.
Cordless
It will get alot of use within the next couple of months for sure and then it will be used for more rarely I would imagine

I have a DHR242 which can be had bare around the £180 mark but I'm not sure it would be my first choice for long time chisel work but it should do you fine. Good all rounder, light weight and gives decent run time being brushless.

If I were doing a lot more long time chisel work I'd look at the DHR280 (when it comes out over here), the DHR263 if you need one now but you're closer to the £300 bare mark.

Brilliant. Thanks for this, I will check these all out this evening!

To play devils' advocate, the models recommended are cordless - TBH in terms of bang per buck a corded model such as the HR2470 are a better bet, especially is lots of chiselling work is being contemplated. I have a DHR242 cordless and it's more than capable of tile removal, light chiselling, etc but it does need two 5ah batteries to keep it fed when doing that sort of work plus a fast charger (as one battery is constantly on charge). Surely that would put it out of the OP's price range when added in to the total. I've used the 2 x 18 volt SDSs (on hire) and they are very powerful, but they require four batteries and a double charger to keep up (even more expensive), although the twin battery solution is a lot more versatile than the single 36 volt option IMHO. Fundamentally almost any 2kg class corded SDS (i.e. one weighing 2 to 3 kg) with at least 2.0 Joules of impact energy and rotation stop will carry out this sort of work without being too heavy for the majority of users and will cost a lot less
