Mini Keyboard not printing "6" and "^"

Have just bought the above on Ebay and find the 6 key dead, it will not print any-thing. The following is it's description on Ebay :

The seller has suggested that this problem is because it is a US key-board ?

As I have to pay postage to return this item I need to be sure he is mistaken ?

Basically the US keyboard layout just swaps some of the symbols around & has no £ sign but you should be able to swap the keys around & take care of things via the Operating System country code setup.
