Mira Excel Shower Control Stiff

Hi - my shower was put in about 10 years ago - used about 6 times daily - the on/off mechanism is now/has been stiff and getting stiffer - difficult to fully turn off - anything i can do - i.e oil - how do i pull it apart and do i need to tuen the water off?

My Wickes power shower, which I think is also made by Mira gets like yours after around two years of use. To free up the control knob spindle, the control valve needs to be detached from the motor, stripped down and all the moving parts and 'O' rings smeared with silicone grease. Make a careful note of where the 'O' rings fit and the position of the mixer valve as you strip it down.

Yes! you need to turn the water off. Also there are filters in each line to clean.
