I have border mirror tiles in my bathroom - 10 of these have discoloured (in the shower area) - before I replace them - what can I do to stop this happening again .... hope there's a genius out there who can help me.

Any more information regarding where they are situated, what adhesive you used, is it all the tiles or just some, what cleaning products you use....

Thanks for getting back to me, the tiles are 3/4 of the way down the wall and go all round the bathroom, in the walk-in shower area carrying on through above the counter-top sink and above the cistern. No other tiles are affected but the shower area. Now weather 'the man' who did our bathroom used a special grip behind the mirror tiles I don't know. I suspect he probably used the same tile adhesive he used for the ceramic tiles above and below border. The tiles affected are the ones that go just behind the bottom of the shower unit and to either side of it. I clean the bathroom with just a combination at different times to glass/mirror cleaner, sometimes just soap and water with a rinse down after and a cloth buffer, nothing too drastic. I always the spray on shower cleaner that you leave on, on the sheet of glass to the left of the shower unit and on the actual shower unit itself and below. I get the usual brown spots on the ceramic tiles in places but they come off with a bit of bleach.

I'm really grateful you got back to me. Regards Jeanne Jackson

Well Jeanne, without seeing the damage, it's hard to know what the cause is. It's more than likely either damge due to cleaning products on the face of the tile or moisture behind the tile. If it's moisture behind the tile you're going to need to reduce the amount of moisture that gets behind the new tiles or it'll just happen again. You can do this by using an epoxy grout (this is more difficult to apply than regular grout) or by using a grout sealer.

Thank you so much, its got to be the moisture behind the tile answer so I'll try the epoxy resin idea - hopefully this will be the ticket or least they will last a bit longer. Once again Thank you.
