Missing sealant/silicone in windows/doors

Recently moved into a rental house and noticed that none of the newly fitted windows or front and back door have been sealed with silicone. There is this foam like material partially filling the gaps (see photos).

I'm assuming that this will need correcting, otherwise without being properly sealed the rain is able to get through this material and will eventually lead to damp?

Yes - it hasn't even been properly filled with foam, there are long gaps in it and it looks very amateur. It maybe that the landlord himself did it on the cheap.

Thanks both - this is exactly what I thought.

I’m having trouble getting the landlord to send someone out as they don’t view it as an emergency repair. Am trying to explain that it will be an emergency if the work is not done now.

Any idea how much rain/time it might take before more serious issues like mould could start to develop?

As long as you have told the landlord then don't worry. It is not your problem.

Having to live in a damp mouldy house with all of my belongings destroyed by mould before my contract ends is what I’m concerned about.
