Hi.
As the title suggests, I'm not sure whether or not they're the same thing!
Anyway, I'm looking to buy a tool that'll cut the mitres in some skirting and coving and a few other minor bits & pieces.
I don't want to spend a fortune but must have something that'll do the job without failing on me. It must also have blades that are easy to obtain.
I don't really want to spend more than £100.
Am I being realistic or not?
All advice would be very gratefully received and I thank all of you in advance.

Slime.

Hello Slime?
You're being unrealistic wanting a mitre saw for £100.
What you really want is a compound mitre saw but these are expensive to buy. They are cheap to hire from good tool stockists and will be more than adequate for your project.

I had a B&Q 'Evolution' sliding mitre saw. I renovated a house and a flat over 2 years before it was time to dump it.

It was about £120 I think, so not far off the mark.....

I have now replaced it with a far more expensive Hitachi though, but for occasional and lightweight use the cheapy was fine.

For skirtings you definitely need a sliding mitre
