Doesn't work the same way in the States. Half the electorate is in general partisan, poorly educated, and stupid.

Republicans would vote for Adolf Hitler if he was on the Republican ticket just to keep a Democrat out. Seeing as the Republican Party is more right wing than the BNP and EDL it's not as far fetched as you might think.

They hate Democrats. Romney will get his vote out simply because he isn't called Obama.

Thatcher would have been a Democrat. But she got Ronnie all fired up with lust and that worked out well for her.

I remember the brilliant Spitting Image sketch with Ronnie and Thatcher doing one of their press conferences when US foreign policy was shafting everybody again. Ronnie turned to the camera and said
