Mixing Kitchen+ and normal matt paints

Hi All,

Money saving/tight-arse question here:

I'm just about to start painting my living room and have bought just enough (two tins) Dulux matt.

I was planning on being very careful to avoid having to buy a third tin to only use a tiny amount. Good news... my mate has some leftover Dulux Kitchen+ matt paint in the exact shade.

Is it ok to mix in the leftover Kitchen+ paint for the first coat? This won't cause any issues with drying/separation/painting over?

No problem provided you mix it really well, maybe add 5% water and sieve it after mixing.

End product might have a very slight shine to it, matt kitchen paint (to my eye) as a very slight shine compared to straight emulsion.

I would argue the wisdom of being tight with paint (shed- Homebase / BnQ Dulux is £20 5 litre everywhere), always better too much- and sometimes a 3rd coat to areas that might need a wash down in years to come (over fires, round light switches, walk area walls) is prudent.

Thanks for confirming this for me Chris. I will give it a good mix. I should have a very small amount left over for any future touch-ups due to the extra now available to me.
