Mixing up yellow mortar (Sandstone?)

Hello everyone,

I am doing some brickwork for the first time, bricking up a flue hole in my wall.

As I am a newbie to this job, I had assumed I just popped to the builder's merchant and grabbed a tub of "yellow" mortar. Because, to my untrained eye, mortar between red bricks is yellow (picture of actual wall attached).

However, this magical yellow mortar seems impossible to get hold of. Internet research further confuses me with talk of colour matches and dyes.

Is that right? Am I missing something obvious?

Grateful for your advice on how to go about getting / mixing up something suitable?

Yellow sand from builders merchant and opc, may need to try different mixes until it matches

Will be grey but not as dark as when using red sand.

standard sand where I grew up was yellow, where I live now it is red.
