How does the cable clamp for the flex work on this MK 13A DP FCU?

Here's a view of the back

I'm reluctant to go pulling and tugging on anything for fear of breaking it.

Hmm. Slightly helpful. That looks like the front part and the cable is just inserted through it. I can sort of see that.

The back bit is a plastic 'L' shape that seems brittle and that is fixed at one end which I have marked 'A'. It appears to me that if I just pushed the cable home, that it might snap off. Maybe it should.... or maybe it will bend and press against the cable.

Looks like nylon to me.

It shouldn't and it won't.

It will.

Thanks guys. On Monday I will be installing it, so I will push the cable through, hope for the best and see what happens. I sort of guessed that would be how it should work, but it didn't look robust enough. we'll see.

Yes they're a kind of one way ratchet, like wagos in a way, and if your cable is thick you have to pre stress them with a screw driver then insert the flex.
If they didn't come with instructions there should be some online.

Elfi has posted a pic of a bottom entry clamp, the cable as shown pushes into the V shape

The OP has a Front entry which is different they are tight to open, best way is to strip the flex long to the 3 cores , strip all 3 to the copper twist all 3 core strands together and poke through, jiggle the long lever bit helps as you then pull on the 3 cores and eventually the outer sheath will break through, then cut off the 3 cores as desired, you are unlikely to break it

It's heat resistant immersion heater flex. I don't know what size it is as it was already there and in that condition. It was only just long enough as it was, so I didn't strip the sheath back any further. But when inserted, the cut edge was on the opposite side to the clamp thingy, so as not to snag on it; or that was the idea!

The cores look to the naked eye fairly standard at 2.5mm2, although the sheath does seem to be slightly thicker than usual.....maybe.
