Modified truss to attic truss

I am considering modifying my attic to add a small space. Talking with a mechanical engineer and a framer they suggest doing something like this. I would basically remove the W portion of the tress and add the Orange Section which would be 2x6 lumber. The edges would rest of the floor joists which is a double 2x8. I attached a photo



Does this look correct?

It'll need Building Regs and you're going to need structural calcs so you might as well pass it straight to your structural engineer to sort out.
