recently changed the battery on my 04 lx mondeo but the code won't work, just keeps counting down 30 mins but counter is on 9 & manual says it will lock at 10 any advice appreaciated

Check to make sure you have the correct code and that you're entering it properly.

Pop the stereo out and there should be an serial number beginning with M
It is possible to get your code from this.
If it is like mine, to enter the code:
Press no 1 the correct amount of times for the first digit (x10 for 0)
Ditto for 2nd, 3rd and 4th
Press 5 to enter.
