More thermostatic shower questions

Hi and thanks in advance for any advice offered.

I am in the process of installing a en suite and want to install a thermo shower. I currently have one installed in the bathroom, about 5M away (as the pipes would run).

This is supplied from the H/C bath pipes (as far as I can tell) and I dont have any problems with it. Can I tap into the same pipes to supply the new shower ?

Or better still tap from the basin H/C supplies which is closer to the new shower position.

Also, can I use plastic push fit pipework throughout ?

AND !!! One more thing, can I also the tap off the new shower suppy for a basin in the new en suite ?

The house is on a combi boiler, if that makes any difference ?

yea if you are running a combi you can take the connections from anywhere the closer the better. push fit is fine and these supplies could do the basin aswell.

be warned on a combi if you not have a very good flow rate from your cold water main you will struggle to run 2 showers at the same time

you can basically check that your stoptap both inside and out are fully open and avoind as many restictions as possible.

there are other options although expensive you can have an accumulator or a larger water main put in to your property but these are extreme solutions really

Ha, yeh they both sound extreme (ly) expensive !!!

I am embarrased to say, I dont even know where my internal stopcock is !!!!

When I redone the kitchen a couple of years ago, I couldn't find it and have kind of just ignored the fact !!!!! I reckon the previous owner has locked it in, behind a stud.

Not to worry, there are plenty of close off valves on the pipework in the bathroom. I just pray to god, I don't ever need to find the stopcock in a hurry !!!!!!

I do know where the external one is.

In emergency check you can turn off your mains from the water company stop valve outside your property. If you are on a water meter you will probably be ok, otherwise you might find a load of muck down there. If you are unable to turn off outside get the water company to check (free of charge).

Better safe than sorry.

P.S. If you don't know where the external valve is, it has been known to be buried, but the water company will have a plan of the layout to trace it.
