I need to bed some ridge and verge tiles, never done it before, but I was thinking to use the same mix I used for stuccoing (rendering?), which was 1 part cement, 1 part lime, and 3 parts sand by volume.

I was also thinking to put a wee bit of SBR in it to aid in adhesion.

Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks, that is very informative, although it does not say much about lime. When I stuccoed an addition I built in Canada some years back, I had read that lime was required or it would crack, as cement only was not very forgiving. It was all wood frame houses there, most of them stuccoed. If it makes any difference, this roof will be on my workshop, which is also a wood frame structure.

I think that’s where the additives come into play, and weather factors? Lime is generally used in older properties I think.
