Hi, hope someone can help me out to resolve issue with my builder.
Some years back I had brick slips applied to the back of my property (1880's London terrace) to cover up issues from previously applied rendering and wartime patching (the house next door was destroyed)
Very happy with the look but then had kitchen rear door widened and this required removing and reapplying some slips.
My builder is lost as to how to make up the mortar mix to match that of the contractor that applied the slips previously. He feels that the mix is more like a putty than a traditional sand and cement type mix. Looking at it, it is indeed very fine. Upclose it is more akin to a putty as you cannot see sand/stone coarseness or light reflection.
Not sure why my builder hasn't seen this before, but searches I am making online come up a blank as to what this may be made from, but I feel this can't be that unusual. Any help/comments appreciated! Thanks.
