motor overheating

i have a boiler and central heating system which is 19yrs old.this morning the hot water,came on and made a lot of banging then a burning smell came from the big tank area up stairs,we pinpointed the smell to the (smc comet 2-130)which i think is a motor very hot after only 10 mins.many thanks if you can help.

pump is stuck

try a gentle tap

otherwise renew it

If the pump was smelling of burning then its almost certain thats its burnt out.

Replace it with a modern pump. Remember it has electrical connections and this should only be done by a competent person.
