I live in a 1930s chalet house and the staircase is effectively housed by a tiled 'dormer' extension to the roof. I suspect that is why i am getting dark spots in quite a wide area on the wallpaper - where the rising warm air meets the poorly insulated wall of the dormer??
Anyway, i want to redecorate (paint) the area and i presume i must strip the current wallpaper and reline the walls. I was wondering whether to use some of those rolls of thin polyurethane 'paper' beneath the new lining paper to insulate the walls. Is this a naff idea. Would it make the mould less likly to re-appear?
Any help/suggestions would be welcome.
