Hello
Just moved into a house with a fairly shoddy back gate and fence and so looking to replace. Below is what is there at the moment and so am looking to replace asap. Was thinking about mounting the gate to a 100x100mm fence post with a concrete fixed metpost on the left avoiding the wall (which has obvioulsy suffered from this in the past and needs attention itself) but wonder if this will cause too much strain on the metpost. I was therefore also wondering about putting the gate on the right instead and affixing the post to the wall there, giving much more strength. I would then put the small section of fence to the left of this and then replace the rest of the 6ft panels when time and funds allow. At the moment this gate is totally unusable and is barricaded with some OSB boards so keen to get it back in action.
So in summary, what would you do here between the small wall on the left and the large wall on the right (1755mm)?
