I am fitting some made to measure sliding door wardrobes so the room PIR sensor for my wired alarm needs to be relocated. Can I just disconnect it, extend the wiring and re-connect or is there more to it than that? The alarm keypad is a Veritas Excel.

Well if confident.

Open sensor.
Enter code ( hope it is on user reset for tamper)
Isolate the power to the detector and insulate.
Resite and make good connections.
Enter code and job done.

Of course that is the easy and abbreviated version.
Also if you open the panel there is mains electricity present and should be isolated and tested for isolation before doing anything unless your a competent person.

Thanks. My alarm fitter said I simply need to enter my code into the alarm panel then press program. I can then move the sensor providing I do not short out any wires. Then press reset.

Does that sound about right?

Veritas by any chance?

It will still go into tamper. Just enter your code to silence.
Move the detector and refit.
Enter code and press reset.

As before, just hope it is on user reset for Tampers.
