Hi all,

My Friend in the process of moving house, and to her horror we've found lots of things that are damp in one of the bedrooms she is moving out of.

Shoes stored under the bed are damp and mouldy, The bottom drawer when unpacking the clothes were damp and the last layer including the base of the drawer is moldy. Basically anything thing thats been on the ground level, in that room stinks! is mouldy or is Damp.

Could she claim on her contents insurance for this kind of thing...

This is a Rented Ground floor Flat btw

Any ideas? or is she going to have to throw everything away and buy new?

Could the clothes just be washed? what about the furniture?

Thanks in advance

Insurance won't cover it.

Clothes you can wash and use one of these liquid fragrance thingys, then give them a good airing in a strong breeze.

Furniture depends on the finish.

Leather, you could try special leather wipes which will clean the surface.

Material finish, Draylon, wool etc warm soapy water might do it but be careful not to get it too wet as it may shrink and test a small area out of site to make sure colours don't run.

Or call in a professional cleaning company.

Good luck.
