We are having a grand CH update and whereas at present we have TRV's on all rads and no wall mounted room thermostat, we want to install a wireless thermostat as well as new wireless CH controller to take over from the control unit which is on the front of the Worcester Heatslave Oil combi boiler.

Questions;

(1) Rather than have two new units on walls and two separate installations, can you get a single unit which offers room thermostat functionality as well as offering the boiler controller functions? If so, any downside to having a single two function unit?

(2) Once the room thermostat is functioning, will I need to remove the existing TRV's?

(3) I have read different advice but where best to place the thermostat? Top of the stairs, in the hall or in the living room?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

(1) Heatmiser do wireless programmable room thermostats with HW control. See:
http://www.heatmisershop.co.uk/prod...th-HW-Output-%2d-Heatmiser-PRTHW%2dW-Kit.html and http://www.heatmisershop.co.uk/prod...-HW-Output-%2d-Heatmiser-PRTHW%2dWTS-Kit.html
I can't vouch for how good they are - never used one.

(2) No, you don’t need to remove the TRVs, but in the room where you place the thermostat, leave the TRVs fully open.

(3) If you are fitting a wireless unit then you can try different locations.
