has anybody out there used a wire saw to cut a plastic soil waste pipe, er sucessfully?

by wire saw i mean the type u can get in camping survivisist type shoppes, u know the type which are a metal wire with a ring on each end , to insert ur own handles like a branch or a reindeer shinbone you foraged from the wild

i want to do this to change my ex wc for a back to wall pan , and the existing waste outlet needs to be mooved back a little, and its quite tight between the joists

the pipe is tight between floor joists and trimmers, normal saw wont fit

Why not try it on a piece of spare pipe to see if it works before you try it (and possibly cock up) on your existing installation !

good idea , will do a trial first

i think i will make-up a guide from a scrap of ply to keep the saw on track too.

You can get a wire saw from plumbers merchant, they will cut thru cast iron so plastics a doddle.
