I have just moved into a house that had two separate BT lines installed. These were on 2 numbers, and 2 bills.

One goes to the socket downstairs, and the other upstairs.

We have had one line switched on, but were wondering if there is a way to get that line to be active on the cabling and socket for the second line.

I can see they both start from the grey box outside the front door.

Is there a way to make them both onto the same live line? Is this easy to do?

Thanks

You will probably find both sockets are master sockets. There should be no more than one master socket per line. More than one can lead to problems with ADSL speeds, faint speech etc. etc.

The correct way to do it is to run a cable from the IDC terminals behind the front plate of the working socket to the second socket position, and terminate your cable on a secondary socket.
