Hi

Our MX Inspiration LXi shower has started cutting out. It will run fine for 2-3 minutes then cut out completely (no water, all lights turn off on the display). If left for 10 mins or so it will then turn back on, run for another minute or so and then turn off again.

We have not noticed a drop in water pressure and this seems to happen whatever temperature the shower is set to.

Can anyone help work out what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Faulty solenoid coil.
Check it for resistance in it's failed state should be 3.4 kohms or above.

Yeah, it's the thermal cut out.
You've part diagnosed the problem yourself; the drop in water pressure will be the cause; the unit senses that it's going to scald you because not enough water is flowing through causing it to cut out.
Check the shower head is not partially blocked.
That the hose is not blocked or kinked.
Usually a filter in the units that might need a clean.
Find out what's causing the low pressure and you will have fixed it!
Good luck,
Servotech,

Hi all

Thanks for the responses - I tested the resistance across the Solenoid (after the fault kicked in) and it was barely registering.

Ended up changing the whole valve not just the Solenoid itself - the problem with this MX Inspiration LXi shower is that you have to take most of it apart to be able to get the Solenoid out in the first place because the plastic strip where you screw in the cover stops you from simply being able to slide the Solenoid off! :(

But the shower works again now anyway :D
