An explorer sets off from his base camp and walks a mile due South, where he spies a bear. He takes a shot at the bear, but misses.

He then gives chase to the bear for a further mile, East, where he shoots again and hits it.

He then carries the bear the mile back to his base camp.

What colour was the bear ?

Why don't Polar Bears eat penguins?

Polar bears live in Arctic region and penguins in Antarctic region so only see each other after a long swim and are too knackered to bother eating each other.

Polar bears are white.

The North Pole is the only place on earth where, whichever way you walk, you are going South. If you then walk either East or West you get no further away from the pole, so you have only a mile to walk to get back.
