Hi folks, just been reading benjees question on his garage.
Thought I might ask you knowledgable folks mine.
I plan on building mine in a bout 2 weeks, finally getting round to it after I put the base down 18 months ago
I applied for planning, after council told me I had to, cost £110 I think.
My garage is on end of terrace also, I initially planned it for entrance on side going on to road. They accepted as long as I put the entrance 1m in from the footpath. (Now Im thinking I ddon'twant to lose a precious metre!) Length is 7.5m Width 3.5. I now plan to put the entrance on the back and swing in, back is on the access lane where everybodys entrances are. Thus by putting it there I will gain back my metre!.
Ok, who reckons, I can do this without telling them, as I have planning, only difference would be going to my boundary and entrance would be on back, and if I tell them will it mean more headache?
Cheers,

if you put it where you want it with entrance at back, it will not be as they said you ccan have it, best ask them (cheaper than taking it down because you did what you want)

You should definitely go back to them for an amendment, they usually do a passing check your doing things as agreed when they are out & about on other site visits. I got some minor amendment done on my PP & there was no additional charge.

If it meets certain criteria, a garage may not need PP but access to it from the highway usually does if it’s not from an existing driveway or if you plan on making a new access. Providing the garage is far enough away from your rear boundary (20 feet I think), accessing it from the rear of your property may be more acceptable in any case if that’s where the rest of the terrace has theirs.

hey tawelfryn.

planning permission has been granted based on the drawing you submitted previously, with a condition that you build it 1 metre from the public highway.

any changes you make to this submission, however small, will have to either go through the planning process again or re- submit a drawing with your intended alterations.

i think the 1 metre rule is quite rigid and is probably best that you stick to it. planning could and will if necessary make you take it down.
