My TomTom compass is wrong

On my TomTom the compass is an arrow. It shows a mirror immage of whatn it should show. E.g. when I drive NW the arrow is at 1.30pm; when I drive West it points East.

Anybody else have the same? Or am I missing something?

Basically the needle is not pointing in direction of travel. Needle always shows North. So if needle is at 9pm then I am travelling East. If needle is at 6pm I am travelling South. If needle is at 3pm I am travelling West.
Then it is acting exactly like the traditional hand held compass where the needle always points to the magnetic north pole, which is not the same point as the geographic north pole.

don't forget to adjust your heading for declination.

Garmin does the simple thing in 2D.

Track up -- Direction is always toward screen top, like rotating paper map through 180° when driving South, but with text always correctly orientated ... Selectable Compass North arrow icon always points north.

North Up -- North always at screen top (as convention with paper map) No need to show compass icon... can match screen and paper map, perhaps on foot off road.

Got it.
No, I dont get it. Surely the needle could be pointing at 9am, 6am and 3am respectively too, because a standard clock is only 12 hours. Or do you have a 24 hour clock? In which case your compas points are way out - it'd be midnight, 6am, midday and 6pm.
