All the advise from this site has been spot on in the past so any ideas on why boiler is not lighting before I call out a plumber !

Sorry Kev going through the lighting up procedure but no ignition light showing I can hear the fan is kicking in but no flame sorry to be vague

1 check the pump is running
2 is the fan switch working
3 can you hear the igniter working ?

Sorry for the delay in answering Kev, work commitments and ringing round for a plumber which i just cant find that aint too busy
Looks like I might have to opt for a new boiler as this one is twelve years old and the general view of the plumbers I rang was might be better to change for new instead of throwing money at it ! can anyone give me a ball park figure of how much this will cost ? needs to power 14 rads 4 of which are doubles ! only managed to get one price on phone but would like something to compare with !

boiler starts to run sounding like it's ok then just before ignition.......click......shuts down.......repeats procedure, ad infinitum?

Yes the boiler is old but STILL repairable. uo to you if you replace it

but if you want to sort it (and sorry for shouting)
