We have a free standing oil fired non combi boiler out in the garage. It is 10 years old and up until 6 weeks ago worked fine. It heats the water and rads on timer and manual no problems. Until............
For some inexplicable reason it has started to "lock out" before firing up on a totally random basis. Nights, days, after running a short time, long time. Off for a few days, on continually. Runs for a few minutes to 36 hours!!
Our regular service man is flummoxed to put it mildly. He has changed control board, transformer, lock out sensor, observed the spark (strong & bright), checked the oil supply, oil quality, changed filters, had the burner out, fired it up on the thermostat control internally, externally. No probs except it refuses to fire up on the random basis. Any help or knowledge on this infuriating boiler would be appreciated.

Hard to get? Mrs Oilman would say impossible. Anyway, I asked the question first. :D

I,m back. Last peice of advice sound but the problem is still there. Down to 24 hours a lock out now. Brrrrrrrrrrrr it's cold in here.

Did your guy change the circuit board inside the control panel, or the control box on the burner?
