Name that part

I was REALLY hoping you might say that.

From anotehr thread about the same boiler I was told that my boiler has X amount of BTU's in reserve and these extra BTU's can be realised if you change the nozzle. Can I assume that is why its rolling around the bottom of the casing covered in c rap ?

Many thanks

I would think it's been left there after a new nozzle was fitted.
The rating of my boiler is determined by the 'nozzle' fitted and the pump pressure. But I could fit a different size nozzle and change the oil pressure to give a different rating.
The 80 will be the angle of the cone produced and there will be another No giving the delivery rate (mine is 0.61 US galls per hour)

So you think that the nozzle mod has taken place releasing those extra BTU's ? I think the markings say 80f

Worcester oil boilers usually come set at a mid range from factory.
So yes you can upgrade as per installation instructions will tell you.

Yeah , I am aware of that , what I was asking is that if there is one rolling round in the bottom of the casing is this likely to mean its been upgraded, or is it common for an installer to leave a spare in the bottom of the casing . And i have no manufacturer instructions :(

No. That's an old carp one. Throw it away and get a service done on the boiler which will include a new nozzle by an OFTEC registerd guy. Some service guys leave the old nozzle as proof that they have changed it. 80 is only to do with the spray/flame angle/shape not the output.

If you want the output changed tell the guy and he can change the nozzle size and adjust the pump pressure and check the combustion setting as necessary within the capacity of the boiler. Make sure he checks the combustion with a meter though as some 'gas' guys don't use them!! Easy.

Ahhhh, it never occurred to me that it could have been dicarded after a service. Thanks Tipper, appreciate it m8 :D
