The other day I was working inside and noticed a guy outside installing a deck at a new home we are working at.....he was using a Dewalt screw gun and had an attachment on it that allowed him to set screws while standing and only using one hand to do so.....it wasn't an auto-feed type attachment it was ''manual"....he would load one 3" screw at a time and then set it.....then repeat....he was fast and I liked the fact that he didn't need special screws for it....this thing was nice....I didn't have a chance to ask him about it.....he finished the deck and is working out of state now.....i cant find it.....anyone know of this attachment???

Any magnetic bit holder will hold a 3" long screw with ease. I do have a larger attatchment that has a "chuck" with sprung ballbearings in that you can "snap" a screw into, this has the advantage of only driving the screw just below the surface like a Drywall gun will do. Can remember the make off hand but will have a look in the workshop later.

No, its not a magnetic tipped bit......those are fine but you have trouble driving any length screw at a distance over a couple inches.... at 4" or more it tends to wobble out of control even with two hands.....this was an attachment that was put on the gun to hold the screw while you stand up and set the screw with only one a hand and you didn't need to hold the screw at all.

Actually now that I think about it.....it was a magnetic tipped bit but it was about a foot long or more and had the attachment somehow attached and holding the screw.....a hands free operation while standing up.

He was sinking 3" screws very fast while standing and not bending over at all......they make an automated version something like the grabber but you were not limited to specific screws and troublesome equipment....this was a manual type set up.

When I do the same job he was doing I kneel down and use two hands at half the speed.

So, No kneeling, A one hand operation, and twice the speed.
