Need a solution

I have really tried to help my builder to sort out this mistake issue.

He has built my extension with an I beam above the patio Bifold windows. Seemed ok initially, but noticed the exposed bottom plate of the beam outside.

Aside from the obvious rust issue, I am worried about the cold bridging issue as there is a connected exposed metal post in the inside.

Need help. Any thoughts /solutions gladly received.

Its a cavity lintel...that's what they look like. They have a big U shape in them to prevent cold bridging and that's filled with insulation.

Not a bad job.

Wish it was a cavity lintel. It’s the bottom plate of a long I beam that is red and has been bricked in the middle.

Not got an answer that works. Thought I would try again after builder shrugs shoulder and I am at a loss!

The exposed steel needs to be neatly and carefully* covered with a pvc trim matched to the colour of the doors. The problem is that the steel plate is a bit too wide, it should have ended a bit further back in the reveal (it only needs to pick up 75% of the width of the brick. A bit of cold bridging is unavoidable (but accepted) and will be minimised by internal insulation.

* There looks just enough room to fit a bit of vertical trim in from the face of the soldier course, especially if you could use thin pvc angle rather than the slightly thicker mouldings. Or even better, get the door company to supply a length of aluminium angle.
