Need advice repositioning an alarm sensor

Ive had some shelves put up in my garage
I have a small problem: the motion sensor is blocked

I simply need to move it about 20cm
I had some builders put up the shelf (who also did other work)
They said that the alarm sensor couldn't be just unhooked and moved
They said it would be tamper proof and I should get some advice from an alarm specialist about moving

Can anyone give advice?

I cold take a photo to show, but it looks just like an ordinary motion sensor - nothi special
